Currently, UC Davis is re-engaging plans to build housing units for faculty and staff at West Village, a planned zero-net-energy community. The project is designed to help recruit and retain employees faced with the high cost of housing in the Davis area while meeting ambitious energy saving and sustainability goals. It will enable faculty and staff to purchase homes at about 80 percent of the cost of a comparable Davis home. Under the latest Long Range Development Plan (LRDP), UC Davis has the authority to build up to 475 single family homes in the future. The first phase includes up to 50 single family homes and will be for sale in 2018.
